Koch (Yagodnaya Polyana-1)

Weigand Koch, son of Heinrich Peter Koch, was born in Fauerbach and baptized on 4 January 1711.

Weigand Koch was married three times:

• His first wife was Anna Maria Mörtre, daughter of Martin Mörtre, whom he married on 22 November 1742 in Fauerbach. Anna Maria Mörtre had been born in Fauerbach and baptized on 24 September 1715. They had three children: (1) Johannes, baptized 13 September 1743; (2) Anna Maria, baptized 17 November 1747; and (3) Peter, confirmed in 1764. Anna Maria Koch née Mörtre died on 4 February 1752.
• His 2nd wife was Anna Maria Müller, daughter of Johannes Müller from Hartmannshain, whom he married on 10 August 1752. No children have been located for this marriage. Anna Maria Koch née Müller died on 11 September 1759.
• His 3rd wife was Anna Maria Seipel, the daughter of Andreas Seipel from Streithain, whom he married on 9 December 1760. Anna Maria Seipel had been born in Streithain and baptized on 26 October 1735. They had two children: (1) Anna Catharina, baptized 23 November 1761; and (2) Johann Michael, baptized 22 January 1764.

Three Koch families arrived in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana on 16 September 1767.

(1) Weigand [recorded as Veil] Koch, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 20; Katharina, age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders.

Johann Weyl [sic] Koch, his wife Anna Maria, and daughter Anna Cathrina (age 5) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Weyl died and his widow remarried to Johann Peter Stuckart with whom they had been travelling from Germany to Oranienbaum and then on to Saratov. They, along with surviving daughter Anna Katharina (age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 34.

The 1767 census records that this Koch family came from the German region of Darmstadt.

(2) Johannes Koch [son of Weigand Koch by his first wife] from Fauerbach & Eliesabetha Koch from Eichelsdorff were married on 3 July 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Johannes Koch, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders.

Johannes (junior) Koch, his wife Elisabeth, and his brother Johann Peter are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johannes Koch (age 25), a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and brother Johannes Peter (age 23) are recorded on the 1767 census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 18.

The Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that this Koch family came from the German region of Nidda.

(3) Anna Maria Koch [daughter of Weigand Koch by his first wife] from Fauerbach & Johann Nicolaus Götz from Eichelsdorff were married on 3 July 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

They arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders.

Nikolaus Götz (age 26) and his wife, Anna Maria (age 20) are recorded on the 1767 census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 70. They had settled there on 16 September 1767.
