Heinrich Köhler, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard a galliot named Der Junge Mattias (The Young Mattias) under the command of Skipper David Wohlert along with a servant, Katharina [surname not recorded].
He settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4 along with his [new] wife Anna Maria and son Johannes (6 months).
Johann Georg Köhler and his brother Johann Heinrich Köhler from Dönhof and their families are recorded on the 1857 census of Rosenberg in Household No. 92.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Köhler was a furrier from the German region of Isenburg while the 1767 census records that he was a merchant (Kaufmann) from the German region of Frankfurt am Main.
