Johann Konrad Köhler, a tailor (Schneider), and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 26 August 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Der Jäger [The Hunter] under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 23 July 1767. Konrad Köhler is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 119 along with his [new] wife Anna Margaretha Volmer.
Konrad Köhler (age 34), a tailor (Schneider), and his wife Anna Margaretha née Volmer (age 34) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 120 along with a note that they are on leave [Beurlaubt] in Orenburg.
The 1767 census records that [Johann] Konrad Köhler came from the German village of Mergburg [Marburg?] in the Hessen region ["nach anderen Angaben aus Mecklenburg" - according to another source he's from Mecklenburg]. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that he came from the German village of Mergburg [Marburg?] in the region of Hessen and that his wife came from the German village of Langeralter.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Köhler family among the Volga German colonies.
