Friedrich Koppel, a soldier (Soldat), and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Beauregard on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 53.

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Koppel came from the German village of Fürstenwerder in Prussia.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Koppel family among the Volga German colonies.
