Discussion & Documentation

Bernhard Korn, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Bernhard Corn and his wife Martha are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Bernhard is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Beauregard in Household No. 51 along with his new wife Margaretha and daughter Elisabeth (9-months). They eventually settled in the Volga German colony of Meinhard where Bernhard is recorded on the 1798 census in Household No. Mn31.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Bernhard Korn came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that Bernhard Korn came from the German village of Weligdorf [?] in the Hessen region.
