There are two Kreh families that settled in the Volga German colony of Bettinger on 3 August 1767. Their relationship is not recorded, but they are presumed to be brothers.
(1) Christoph Kreh, a miller (Müller), and his wife Katharina are recorded on the 1767 census of Bettinger in Household No. 13.
(2) Johann Ernst Kreh, a farmer, and his wife Eva are recorded on the 1767 census of Bettinger in Household No. 14. The 1798 census of Bettinger (Bt43) records that Ernst Kreh is working at the mill in Schönchen. The 1767 census records that Johann Ernst Kreh came from the German village of Klingen and that Christoph Kreh came from Lingenau, but Klingen is believed to be correct.
