Kreiss (Seelmann)
Jakob Kreiss, a farmer, his wife Barbara, and daughter (Cunigunda, age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Die Neue Freiheit von Bremen under the command of Skipper Steingrawer.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767. His wife died on 3 September 1767 and he is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 76.
Jakob is recorded on the 1798 census in the colony of Preuss (Ps67).
\The 1767 census records that Jakob Kreiss came from the German village of Reuth in the Bamberg region.
