Discussion & Documentation

Johann Jakob Krahl [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna Katharina, and children (Anna Maria, age 15; Johann Jakob, age 12; Johann Adam, age 10) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Perle (The Pearl) under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.

Johann Jacob Kräh [sic], his wife Anna Catharina, and children (Anna Maria, age 15; Johann Jacob, age 12; Adam, age 10) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Jakob Kroll (age 12) and his siblings (Anna Maria, age 18; Johann Adam, age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 23 along with their stepfather Johann Adam Schleiber.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Jakob Krahl came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census does not record from where the Kroll family came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Kroll family among the Volga German colonies.
