Widower Matthias Krug, a blacksmith (Schmied), settled in the Volga German colony of Shcherbakovka on 15 June 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 31.
The 1767 census records that Matthias Krug came from the German village of Stierstadt.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Krug family among the Volga German colonies.
