Lorenz Kuhn, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), and his wife Anna Margaretha arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 28 July 1766 aboard a Russian galliot named Стрельна (Strelna - a village near St. Petersburg) under the command of Midshipman Login Sornev.
Lorentz Kuhn and his wife Anna Margreta are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Anna Margreta died en route.
Lorenz Kuhn remarried to Gertrude, the widow of Christoph Weitzel. [See Weitzel Family.]
Lorenz and Gertrude settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 26 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 178.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Lorenz Kuhn came from the German region of Isenburg. Research by Alexander Baumung reveals Lorenz Kuhn came from the German village of Hettersroth.
