There are two Lauterbach families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Kaspar Lauterbach, a farmer, his wife Charlotta, and sons (Georg, age 5; Johannes, age 1½) arrived in Oranienbaum.
It is not known what happened to this Lauterbach family after arrival in Russia.
(2) Widower Heinrich Lauterbach, a farmer, and his children (Kaspar, age 23; Magdalena, age 20) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Heinrich remarried to Widow Margaretha Nünstill who was on the same ship arriving in Oranienbaum. They settled in the Volga German colony of Kraft on 18 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6 with their combined families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Lauterbach families came from the German region of Dienheim. The 1767 census records that Heinrich Lauterbach came from the German village of Burgsinn.
There are no known surviving male linse of this Lauterbach family among the Volga German colonies.
