Sebastian Leber, a farmer, and his wife Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 39.
The 1767 census records that Sebastian Leber came from the German village of Mergelz in France.
There are no known surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
