Markus Friedrich Leisel, son of Albrecht & Elisabetha Leisel, was born in Untertürkheim near Stuttgart on 14 July 1744 and baptized on 15 July 1744.
Friedrich Leisel, a single tailor, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard the ship named Die Neue Fortuna (The New Fortune) under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.
Friedrich Leusel is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He arrived in the Volga German colony of Warenburg where he married Anna Christina née Hieb, widow of Heinrich Christian Eisner. They are recorded on the 1798 census of Warenburg in Household No. Wr058.
The death of Friedrich Leisel in 1806 is recorded on the 1811 census of Warenburg in Household No. 58.
Brothers Johann Michael Leisel, Johann Gottlieb Leisel, and Georg Ludwig Leisel, grandsons of Friedrich Leisel, and their families are recorded on the 1834 census of Warenburg in Household No. 74.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Leisel came from the German region of Stuttgart.
