Johann Lieber, a butcher (Fleischer), and his wife Christina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Jungfer Friederika under the command of Skipper Hans Christian Korsholm.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 May 1767, and Wilhelm Lieber is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 58 along with a note that his wife had died there on 26 October 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Lieber came from the German region of Weilburg. The 1767 census records that Wilhelm Lieber was a miller (Müller) from the German village of Kirchheim in the Nassau-Weilburg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Lieber family among the Volga German colonies.
