Discussion & Documentation

Michael Löbe, a farmer, his wife Anna, and sons (Mattias, age 15½; Johannes, age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Cäsarsfeld in Household No. 12. They had settled there on 3 August 1767. A note accompaning the 1767 census records that that they relocated to the colony of Basel in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Michael Löbe came from the German village of Kirchheim.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Löbe family among the Volga German colonies.
