Lohnes*
Johann Peter Lohnes, son of Johann Heinrich Lohnes, was born 20 December 1738 in Klingen.
Johann Peter Lohnes, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the hooker Die Jungfer Dietrika.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 25 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 21. His sister Katharina married Johann Nicolaus Volk and is recorded with him on early parish documents.
The 1767 census records that Peter Lopes [sic] came from the German village of Klingen in the Pfalz region.
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this Lohnes family among the Volga German colonies.
