Loos (Katharinenstadt)
Karl Loos, his wife Katharina, and children (Peter, age 8; Philipp, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 3 August 1767. Karl is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 156 along with a new wife Katharina Margaretha Nulhass and a son [?] Augustus (age 8).
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Karl Loos was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a miller (Müller).
The 1767 census records that Karl Loos came from the German village of Springe Reinfeld in the Hessen region and that Katharina Margaretha Nulhass came from the German village of Weisel in the Pfalz region.
