Johann Lossel, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), and his wife Wilhelmina Dorothea settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 21 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 87.

The 1767 census records that Johann Lossel came from the French region of Picardie.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
