Discussion & Documentation:

Johannes Luder [sic], son of Johann Georg Luder, married Elisabetha Schwind in Langendiebach on 31 January 1748.  Elisabetha Schwind, daughter of Bernhard & Anna Christina Schwind, had been born 24 November and baptized 1 December 1726.

Johannes and Elisabetha had four children whose baptisms are recorded in the Langendiebach parish register: (1) Catharina, born 9 August 1749, baptized 11 August 1749; (2) Johann Jost, born 30 October 1751, baptized 3 November 1751; (3) Eva Maria, born 2 September 1753, baptized 5 September 1753; and (4) Anna Maria, born 18 February 1757, baptized 20 February 1757.

Johann Lüter [sic], a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Katharina, age 18½; Johann [Justus], age 17½; Maria, age 15¼, Anna, age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Huck where Justus Luther is recorded on the 1798 census in Household No. Hk76.

Most descendants of this family use the spelling of Luther.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Lüter came from the German region of Isenburg.
