Malchus (Hildmann)*
Ernst Markus [sic], a farmer, his wife Magdalena, daughters (Katharina, age 3; Magdalena, age ½), and siblings (Agness [sic]; Adam, age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Mathias under the command of Skipper David Wollert.
Ernst Malchus, his wife Magdalena, daughter Magdalena (age 2), and brother Georg Adam (age 16) are recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in Household No. 16. They had settled there on 20 June 1767. Ernst's sister Anna Elisabeth Malchus is recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 41 where she is the wife of Friedrich Kisner.
Ernst Malchus, his wife, and stepchildren are recorded on the 1798 census of Hildmann in Household No. Hd30.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ernst Markus came from the German region of Mainz while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Aschaffenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
