Johannes Peter Manes, son of Johannes Manes (1715 - 22 March 1785) & Katharina Hofmann, was born 24 October 1736 in Remich. He married 27 December 1759 in Remich to Anna Marie Estele.

The births of the following children born to Johannes Peter Manes & Anna Maria Estele are recorded in Remich: (1) Anna, born 14 November 1760; (2) Margaretha, born 28 March 1762; and (3) Heinrich, born 4 July 1763.

Peter Manus, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 5; Heinrich, age 3; Balthasar, age ¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Der Jäger (The Hunter) under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 64.

Peter Manus and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps47.

The death of Peter Manus (age 77) of Preuss is recorded in August 1808 [exact date illegible] in the parish register of Preuss.

The 1767 census records that Peter Manus came from the village of Remich in Luxembourg.
