Michael Markert and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 93.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Markert was a weaver from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony). The 1767 census records that he was a farmer from the German village of Ostheim near Eisenach in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
