Discussion & Documentation

Walpurgis Martin arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Prinz Carl (Prince Carl) under the command of Skipper Christopher Losser.

Orphan Walburgis Martin (age 17) is recorded on the 1767 census of Bettinger in Household No. 1 along with the Karl Christoph Bettinger family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Martin and Bettinger families.

The 1767 census does not record from where Walburgis Martin came.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Martin family among the Volga German colonies.
