Dominikus [sic] Mathien, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum aboard the Russian galliot Catharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Röder.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 10 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.

The 1767 census records that Dominik Mathien came from the village of Stassburg in France.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of the Mathien family among the Volga German colonies.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
