Maurer (Warenburg)*
There are two Maurer families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Jungfer Friederika under the command of Skipper Christian Korsholm.
They both settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the two families.
(1) Johann Peter Maurer from the former county of Hachenburg & Maria Elis. Schwartz from Muntzfelden were married on 21 April 1766 in the City Lutheran Church of Friedberg.
Johann [Peter] Maurer, a farmer, and his wife Maria are recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 125.
(2) [Johann] Adam Maurer arrived in Oranienbaum as a single farmer. He is recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 126 along with his new wife Anna Elisabeth and her three daughters (Anna Katharina, age 15; Juliana, age 13; Anna Elisabeth, age 10) [surname not recorded].
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Maurer families came from the German region of Hagenburg. The 1767 census records that they came from the German village of Hetzerode [?] near Hessenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Maurer family among the Volga German colonies.
