Franz Max (age 46), a farmer, his wife Sophia (age 24), and sons (Konrad [age not recorded]; Johann Adam, age 15) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dehler. They had arrived in Dehler on 1 July 1767.

Johannes Max (age 18), son of the deceased Konrad Max, is recorded on the 1798 census of Dehler in Household No. Dl40.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Franz Max came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Franz Max came from the German village of Waterheim [Wattenheim] in the area of Leiningen.
