Christoph Mehl and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Der Junge Mattias under the command of Skipper Johann Gottfried Selander.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.
Christoph Mehl and his blind son Heinrich Balthasar are recorded on the 1798 census of Kukkus in Household No. Kk42.
The death of Balthasar Weil [sic] in 1820 is recorded on the 1834 census of Kukkus in Household No. 106.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christoph Mehl was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a miner.
The 1767 census records that Christoph Mehl came from the German village of Boddin near Brandenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Mehl family among the Volga German colonies.
