Discussion & Documentation

This family is recorded in some sources as Meier and others as Müller. Further research is needed to determine which is accurate.

Johann Martin Meier, a joiner (Tischler), his wife Anna Christina, and children (Martin, age 24; Johann Georg, age 18; Anna Maria, age 11) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Perle (The Pearl) under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.

Christina Müller, widow of a craftsman (Handwerker), and her children (Martin, age 24; Georg, age 18; Anna, age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Walter in Household No. 74. They had arrived in Walter on 25 August 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Martin Meier came from the German region of Erbach. The 1767 census records that Christina Müller came from the German village of Hausheim [?] in the region of Erbach.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Meier / Müller family among the Volga German colonies.
