Discussion & Documentation

Balthasar Meier and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Perepechin.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Müller on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 35.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Balthasar Meier was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a weaver (Weber).

The 1767 census records that Balthasar Meier came from the German village of Wall in the region of Isenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Meier family among the Voga German colonies.
