Discussion & Documentation

Widow Maria Agnessa Merine, a farmer's wife, and her daughter Eva Elisabeth (age 2) settled in the Volga German colony of Holstein on 24 June 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.

The 1767 census records that Maria Agnessa Merine came from the German region of Dergin [?].

There are no surviving male descendants of this surname, so it does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
