[Johann] Peter Mosel, a single chimney sweep (Schornsteinfeger), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Henrich Niemann.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 106 along with a note that he was widowed on 8 November 1767.
Another note at Household No. 167 that he was engaged to Johanna Elisabeth Gottfried who had been widowed on 22 September 1767.
The 1767 census records that Johann Peter Mosel came from the German region of Nassau-Weilburg.
