Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Mundt, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), his wife Margaretha, and children (Friedrich, age 8; Katharina, age 5¼; Maria Magdalena, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Frieder. Mundt, his wife Margaretha, and son Joh. Friederich (age 7) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 22 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 15.

In 1786, Johann Friedrich Mundt and his family moved from Paulskaya to the Caucasus.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Friedrich Mundt came from the region of Berlin.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
