Wilhelm Muss, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16.
The 1767 census records that Wilhelm Muss came from the German region of Trier.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Muss family among the Volga German colonies.
