There are two Neubauer families that settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 7 June 1767. There relationship to each other is not recorded. They both arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
(1) Christoph Neubauer is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Christoph Neubauer, a farmer, and his new wife Dorothea [Schönfelder] are recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 11.
(2) Single Michael Neubauer is recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 86. In 1786, Michael Neubauer moved from Ober-Monjou to Hussenbach. By 1798, he was living in Katharinenstadt.
The death of Michael Neubauer in 1818 is recorded on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 103. He had no known surviving male lines.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Christoph and Michael Neubauer came from the German village of Adelsberg.
