Christian Neumann was born about 1779 in Güstrow. He was a potter.
He served as soldier in the Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 his mother, brother, and two sisters were still living in Güstrow.
Belousov records that he was settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus, was assigned to the household of Wilhelm Becker, and later relocated to the colony of Frank.
Milovidov records that Christian Neumann came from the village of Güstrow in the German region of Mecklenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Neumann family among the Volga German colonies.
