Nickel (Warenburg-1)
The baptisms of two children of Georg Wilhelm & Maria Elisabeth Nickel are recorded on the parish register of Wolfenhausen: (1) Johann Wilhelm, baptized 1 October 1747; and (2) Anna Katharina, baptized 29 January 1754.
The children immigrated to Russia. Wilhelm Nickel, a single farmer, and his sister Anna Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Die Neue Freiheit von Bremen under the command of Skipper Steingrawer.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767. Wilhelm Nickel and his sister Katharina (age 20) are recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 140 along with Wilhelm's new Anna Katharina.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Wilhelm Nickel came from the German region of Runkel. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Wolfenhausen in the region of Rumpel.
