Johann Nieder [sic], a single hosier (Strumpfwirker), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Johann Niederer [sic] is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 108 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Näb in 1768.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Nieder [sic] came from the German region of Isenburg while the 1767 census records that Johann Niederer [sic] came from the German region of Hanau.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Niederer family among the Volga German colonies.
