Mathias Niederhof, a locksmith (Schlosser), and his unnamed wife settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 10 October 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 57.
The 1767 census records that Mathias Niederhof came from the Austrian town of Wien (Vienna).
There are no known surviving male lines of this Niederhof family among the Volga German colonies.
