Two Nürnberger families migrated to Russia in 1766. They are believed to be related (perhaps father/daughter) because they both arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 May 1766 aboard the galliot named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Heyer, and they both arrived in Ober-Monjou on 5 March 1767. Further research is needed to confirm a relationship between the two Nürnberger families.
(1) Valentin Nürnberger, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Dorothea, age 11; Georg, age 10¼; Johann, age 7; Anna, age 3) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Valentin Nürnberger (age 50), a farmer, his wife Maria (age 30), and children (Dorothea, age 15; Georg, age 13; Johannes, age 11; Joseph, age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 17.
Johannes Nürnberger (age 39) and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. Om19.
The death of Johannes Nürnberger in 1819 is recorded on the 1834 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 11.
Katharina Saltzmann née Nürnberger (age 33) from Ober-Monjou and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Louis in Household No. Ls10.
Joseph Nürnberger (age 31) and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. Om17 along with his mother Anna Maria née Hartmann (age 68).
Joseph Nürnberger and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 26.
Gerhard Nürnberger (age 28), presumed son of Valentin Nürnberger, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. Om47.
The death of Gerhard Nürnberger in 1820 is recorded on the 1834 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 55.
(2) Johann Andreas Ludewig [sic] & Catharina Nürnberger were married on 11 April 1766 in the Lutheran Cathedral (Evangelische Kirche Dom) in Lübeck.
Catharina Ludwig née Nürnberger did not make it to Russia. Johann Andreas Ludwig arrived in Oranienbaum with a new wife Anna. [See Ludwig Family.]
The Oranienburg passenger list records that Valentin Nürnberger came from the German region of Würzburg. The 1767 census records that Valentin Nürnberger came from the German village of Nadlinger in the region of Würzburg.
