Johann Friedrich Elenberger [sic], a single hunter (Jäger), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Vergelte Weintraube under the command of Skipper Anderson.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 55 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Bangert in 1768.
The widow of Friedrich Elenberg [sic] and his children (Johann Christian, age 20; Jakob Heinrich, age 17; Anna Maria Elisabeth, age 12; Maria Friedrika, age 3) are recorded on the 1798 census of Bangert in Household No. Bg25.
Johann Christian Ehrenberger [sic] is recorded on the 1811 census of Bangert in Household No. 25 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Enders in 1810.
[Johann] Christian Elenberger [sic] is recorded on the 1811 census of Enders in Household No. 7.
The 1834 census of Enders records Christian Elberg [sic] in Household No. 47.
The death of Christian Elberg [sic] in 1845 is recorded on the 1850 census of Enders in Household No. 77.
Christian's descendants (surname Elberg [sic]) are recorded on the 1857 census of Enders in Households No. 78, 79, 80.
Jakob Heinrich Ehrenberger [sic] is recorded on the 1811 census of Bangert in Household No. 25 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Stahl am Karaman in 1801 [sic].
Jakob Heinrich Elenberger [sic] from Bangert and his son are recorded on the 1811 census of Stahl am Karaman in Household No. 31 along with a note that he arrived in Stahl am Karaman from Bangert in 1805 [sic].
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Friedrich Elenberger [sic] came from the German district of Schleswig-Holstein. The 1767 census records that he came from St. Petersburg, but that his father was from the German district of Holstein.
