Leonhardt Ehlert, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 15 March 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 46.

The 1798 census of Enders records Philipp Ehlert from Rosenheim in Household No. En05.

The 1767 census records that Leonhard Ehlert came from the German village of Großpokar in the Kurpfalz region.
