Johannes Nau, a mason (Maurer), his wife, and his step-son Heinrich Paul arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the Die Neue Freiheit von Bremen under the command of Skipper Steingrawer.
The settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 105.
The 1798 census records Heinrich Paul living in the neighboring colony of Seelmann (Sm40).
