Discussion & Documentation

Georg Pförner arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 August 1766 aboard a ship named Der Friede (Peace) under the command of Skipper Hans Karck.

Georg Pförner is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

He evidently married Kanetta [Johannetta] Klein with whom he arrived in Oranienbaum and with whom he traveled from St. Petersburg to Saratov.

Widow Maria Johannetta Pförner [née Klein] and her daughter Regina (age 6-months) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou (No. 30) along with a note that they settled in the Volga German colony of Zürich in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Maria Johannetta Pförner came from the German village of Zersardel [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this Pförner family among the Volga German colonies.
