Joseph Philipper, his wife Magdalena, and daughter Charlotta (age 13) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl. [The Plehve translation of the Oranienbaum passenger list has this name incorrectly recorded as Philipp.]

Joseph Philipp Bart [?], his wife Magdalena, and daughter Charlotta (age 13) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Joseph Philipper, his wife Magdalena, and daughter Charlotte (age 13) are recorded on the 1767 census of Frank in Household No. 38.

Joseph Filiber [sic] is recorded on the 1798 census of Frank in Household No. Fk126. Daughter Charlotte Philipper is recorded on the 1798 census of Frank in Household No. Fk051 as the wife of Johannes Spreier.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Joseph Philipper was an innkeeper while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Philipper came from the French village of Amereli [?] near Dauphin [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this Philipper family among the Volga German colonies.
