Peter Planz, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 27 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16.

The 1767 census records that Peter Planz came from the German village of Hennweiler in the Duchy of Zweibrücken.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
