Discussion & Documentation

There are two Plouquet families that migrated to the Volga German colonies. Their relationship to each other, if any, requires additional research.

(1) Johann Jakob Blouquet [sic], a joiner (Tischler), his wife Elisabeth, children (Gertruda, age 13; Katharina, age 9; Andreas, age 3), mother Anna, and sister Anna (age 30) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard a ship named Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Jakob Plouquet (age 32), a craftsmann (Handwerker), his wife Anna Gertrude (age 22), and daughters (Gertrude, age 13; Katharina, age 9) are recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 4. They had arrived in Norka on 15 August 1767.

[Widower] Jakob Plouquet is recorded on the 1798 census of Norka in Household No. Nr223.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Jakob Plouquet came from the German region of Isenburg.

[The Norka Website reports that the German origin of this family is the village of Schlierbach.]

(2) Johann Georg Bill [sic] & Maria Catharina Plouquet from Wolfferborn were married on 26 March 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Georg Biel, a farmer, his wife Katharina [Plouquet], and his sister Katharina (age 30) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert. [See Biehl Family.]

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
