Bernhard Röder, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 20 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 96 along with the Johann Rekowski family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Röder and Rekowski families.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Bernhard Röder was a potter from the German region of Mainz while the 1767 census records that he was a potter (Töpfer) from the village of Orb.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Röder family among the Volga German colonies.
