Discussion & Documentation

Christian Raspe, his wife Rosina, and daughters (Christina, age 12; Anna, age 10¼; Dorothea, age 7; Dorothea Sophia, age 10½ [sic]) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Eva Maria under the command of Skipper Franz Christopher Schröder.

Christian Raspe, his wife Rosina, and daughters (Christina, age 13; Anna, age 11) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Christian died en route.

Franz Delsop, a hatmaker (Hutmacher), his wife Regina [sic], and [step-]daughters (Christina [Raspe], age 15; Anna [Raspe], age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 72. They had arrived in Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766.

Franz Delsop, a hatmaker (Hutmacher), his wife Anna Maria née Hendel (widow Raage), and step-daughter Johanna Christina Rasge [sic] (age 22) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 106 along with a note that Franz Delsop died in 1776. Also recorded on the Land Register is that step-daughter Johanna Christina Rasge [sic] married Johann Diesendorf and had two sons (Adam Johann, born 1777; Friedrich, born 1779). [See Diesendorf Family.]

Widow Christina Diesendorf née Delsop and her children are recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka071. [Christina's maiden is Raspe; Delsop is her step-father's surname.]

There are no known surviving male lines of this Raspe family among the Volga German colonies.
