Hans Peter Rittel [sic], a single farmer, and his sister Maria (age 13) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Diana under the command of Skipper Markus Draguhn.
Johan [sic] Peter Rettel [sic] and his daughter [sic] Maria (age 13) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Johannes Peter Redel, a farmer, and his [new] wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 19 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 98.
Johann Peter Redel and his family (including son Thomas) are recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn14.
The death of Johann Peter Redel in 1801 is recorded on the 1811 census of Brabander in Household No. 14.
The death of Thomas Redel in 1830 is recorded on the 1834 census of Brabander in Household No. 12. Michael Redel and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Brabander in Household No. 76.
Orphan Margaretha Rettel [sic] (age 14) is recorded on the 1767 census of Brabander in Household No. 53 along with the Peter Bartel family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Rettel and Bartel families. A note on the 1767 census records that Margaretha Rettel's parents died in Germany.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Hans Peter Rittel [sic] came from the German region of Ansbach. The 1767 census records that Johannes Peter Riedel came from the village of Befort [Beaufort?] in Luxembourg.
