Johannes Rhain, son of Augustini Rhain, and Barbara Margaretha Beckel, daughter of Johann Heinrich Beckel from Gelnhaar, married in Bergheim (formerly Heckenbergheim) on 6 May 1733. The baptisms of four children are recorded in the Heckenbergheim parish records: (1) Johann Christoph, born 22 October 1738, baptized 25 October 1738; (2) Margaretha, born 20 November 1739, baptized 22 November 1739; (3) Johann Heinrich, born 12 March 1744, baptized 15 March 1744; and (4) Johannes, born 29 July 1747, baptized 1 August 1747.

Son Johann Heinrich Rehn married Anna Margaretha Russ on 8 March 1766 in Büdingen as they prepared to leave for Russia.

Johann Heinrich Rehn, his wife Anna, and his brother Johann arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Kolb on 13 May 1767. Johann Heinrich and Anna are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 9.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Heinrich Rehn was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a craftsman (Handwerker).

The 1767 census records that Heinrich Rehn came from the German village of Gebershein in the Hanau region.
